Trey passed away peacefully Friday, July 19, 2013 at his parents home after a three year courageous battle with a brain tumor. His courage and fight was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was 32 years old and a resident of Denham Springs and a native of Zachary, La. He was a paramedic with East Baton Rouge Emergency Medical Services for seven years. He was a 1999 graduate of Zachary High School and 2006 graduate of Our Lady of Lake College. He was Outstanding Emergency Health Science Student of his graduating class at Our Lady of Lake College. Trey received the Emergency Medical Service Medal of Honor in August, 2008. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church. Trey is survived by his wife of four years, Casey Engels Thompson and their precious, beloved daughter Bristol Lynn, his parents, Johnny and Connie Thompson, his sister and her husband, Tara and Rob Farmer, his father and mother-in-law, Randy and Sherri Engels, his brother in law and wife, Renn and Amber Engels, his nieces and nephews, Ellen and Aiden Farmer and Dawson and Onaleigh Engels, his paternal grandmother, Cecile Thompson Thoms, and his maternal grandmother, Eva Farrar Welch. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John D. Thompson, Sr. and maternal grandparents, Glen D. Farrar and Edith Behrnes Farrar. Visitation will be held at Charlet Funeral Home in Zachary, LA on Thursday, July 25, 2013, from 5:00 p.m until 9:00 p.m. and at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, LA on Friday, July 26, 2013, from 10:00 a.m until the Mass of Christian Burial at noon with the Rev. Frank J. Bass, celebrant. The burial will follow at the St. Isidore Catholic Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Barry Barrett, Renn Engels, Rob Farmer, Stephen Martinez, Paul Mier, James Warner, Jay Watson and Mike Zeitler. Honorary Pallbearers are Trey's uncles, Randy Farrar, Wayne Hagg, Frank Jones, Donnie Junot, Gary Thompson, and Joey Watson. The family would like to thank Trey's East Baton Rouge Parish Emergency Medical Services family for their unending support throughout his illness. We are forever grateful. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bristol Lynn Thompson Educational Fund at any Chase Bank. Connie and Johnny....just heard the news...so sorry for your loss. When my dad died, my aunt reminded me of the scripture that says to "be absent in the body is to be in the presence of the Lord" (paraphrased)....it comforted me to know he was with our Heavenly Father....and Trey is safe, loved, happy and healthy right now...I can't imagine your grief, but hopefully this comforts you through this difficult time....Sending a big hug! Love you guys...Bonnie Fultz Ramos

I was an RN at BRGMC ER. Trey was such a nice guy and awesome health care professional. When he brought patients in, I knew they had always received superior care in the field. Certainly not an easy job and most often extremely challenging (especially in the more dangerous areas of Baton Rouge) he handled the lives he cared for with grace, compassion, and great competence. Through the work he provided to the many lives he positively impacted, his character shined through. His passing is a great loss to us all but it sounds as though he is in great company in Heaven. He deserves it.
