William Mark Elkins, 62, a resident of Slaughter, LA, and a native of Clinton, LA, died at his home on Olive Branch on September 19, 2013. He was a former employee of Louisiana State University, where he worked for 20 years, and he was currently employed with the US Postal Service, where he has worked for over 15 years. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home in Clinton on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 5pm until 8pm and then on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 3pm until funeral services at 4pm, conducted by Dr. Fred Malone. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kathy Koserog Elkins; two daughters, Emily Diane Elkins of Houston, TX and Katherine Elizabeth Elkins of Slaughter, LA; and one sister, Gloria Elkins Gaar. He is also survived by his faithful adopted grand-dog, Pooter. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Poston Elkins, his father, Atterson Franklin Elkins, his brother, Gary Neil Elkins, and his sister Judith Elkins Watts. He was a graduate of Louisiana Tech and a member of the Lambda Chi Fraternity. He was a lifelong cattleman and you could find him in the hayfield when the season came around. Mark enjoyed fishing and taught both his daughters at a young age. His gardens were always plentiful and his love of outdoor photography showed just how much he appreciated nature. He was a simple, kind hearted man. In his last week here with us, Mark took a trip to TX to enjoy with his oldest daughter and left this earth while working on his youngest daughters deer stand. His wife and his daughters were his world and he gave them the most beautiful farm to grow on. They are and will forever be thankful for the time he allowed them to be a part of his life. I pray that in this time of loss,
You'll feel God's love much more
And that you'll find your comfort
In the presence of the Lord
I pray God pours upon you,
His sweet amazing grace
And overflow your heart with peace
As you live in His embrace.
Mark was one of the good guys. We started at the PO together in 1998. We got to know each other quickly because of our Ethel/Clinton roots. I will truly miss him, especially that VOICE...lol. Mrs. Kathy, you and the girls have my deepest sympathy. From what I have seen, you are a STRONG women. God bless you guys.

Emily,
My prayers are with you and your family at this time. Keep your head up and be strong. I never had the pleasure of meeting your father, but the one thing that I have always been told is how much he adored his girls. You will always have that to hold on to and know that he is watching over ya'll always.
Sincerely,

The Elkins family; our prayers are with you and may God comfort your family during this very difficult time. Mark was such a good childhood friend, his family and ours spent many good times together as we grew up. Seemed as if we were always at his family home or ours. As time passed and we moved away the memories remained.

Mark's was a life which was cut too short. God knows our number though. I remember that Mark was the first person I knew who had a trampoline. He had some of us neighborhood kids over to jump with him. It was nice of him to share. May God give you His peace as you go through these days ahead.

Emily and Katie, there are no words I can say that can feel your emptiness, all I can do is remind you that your dad loved you with every breath he took, every word he spoke, with every heartbeat and every blade of grass on that land. Y'all were his everything. And he knows the he was your everything.
When you feel the slightest breeze outside, it's him, right by your side. He is now your angel above. He looked after you before he left this earth and he will continue to do that.
This may sound crazy but my grandparents were like my parents, so every night before I go to sleep I talk to them and ask them to watch over me and my family. I guess that's my way of keeping a continued relationship.
We will always be here, 24 hours a day for both of you, no matter what. DO NOT hesitate!
We love you both...May your daddy rest in peace for you girls
