A resident of Amite died at 3:55 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington. He was born January 25, 1929 in Atmore, AL and was 85 years of age. He was a retired Lt. U.S. Navy Veteran of Korea and Vietnam with 30 years of service. He also was a retired weight enforcement officer with the State of Louisiana with 13 years of service. Survived by wife, Mildred L. McGlothren, Amite; 3 sons, Bradford E. McGlothren and wife Katherine, Carlos Brent McGlothren and wife, Cheryl and Barton F. McGlothren and wife, Hayley, all of Ponchatoula; 2 daughters, Carla McGlothren Kennedy and husband, Michael, Baton Rouge and Camela McGlothren Rowe, Watson; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Edwina Roberson, Jacksonville, FL; and 1 brother, Charles R. McGlothren, Mobile, AL. Preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Lela R. Giddens McGlothren; great granddaughter, Leala Grace McClothren; 4 brothers, James Edward McGlothren, Jr, John Winston McGlothren, Gilbert McGlothren and Dennis Leon McGlothren. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continuing Monday, April 14, 2014 from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Religious Services at Wilmer Missionary Baptist Church at 1 p.m. on Monday.
