A native of Tickfaw and a resident of Baton Rouge, Ruby was called home to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge at the age of 94. She was a Tangipahoa Parish elementary school teacher for many years. Ruby leaves behind her daughters, Cora Black and husband Kenneth, Wanda Welsh Ard and Mary Johnson, along with her grandchildren, Allen Black, Ken Black, Wendy Johnson, Jennifer Troxler, Michele Welsh, Maurice J. Welsh; great-grandchildren, Haven Johnson, Paula and Kymberlie Hester; great-great-grandchildren, Heartli Villenurve, Alysiea, Damien and Mackenzie Hester, Brandon Terrel, Jr. Preceding Ruby in death were her parents, Voyie and Cora Hebert; husband, James Howard Conrad; sisters, Myrtis and Clenny Faller, Helen Hebert, Allie and Raymond Brister, Nettie and Wheeler Goudeau, Annabelle and Johnny Giler; brothers, J.V. Hebert, Eddie Hebert and George Dudley Hebert. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the religious services from Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Rev. George Goudeau will officiate the services and interment will follow in Red Hill Cemetery. Condolences and other information are available online at www.thompsoncares.com.
