A resident of Baker, LA, Marie passed away at her home on Sunday, August 3, 2014. She was 52, and a native of Brusly, LA. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Saturday, August 9, 2014, from 9am until religious services in the chapel at 12:00pm. Pastor George Scruggs will open with a special prayer and a reading of the obituary. Pastor Phil Parnell will conduct the religious services, and interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Bro. R.C. Carter, Terry Blanchard, Brian Blanchard, Richard Beverly, John Adams, and Bro. Chris Floyd. Marie is survived by a daughter, Cindy Marie Russell of Baker; two sons, Gilbert Earl Deer, Jr. and his fiancée, London Parisi of Baton Rouge, LA, and Corey Jackson Deer and wife, Chasity Anselmi Deer of St. Francisville, LA; two grandchildren, Sierra Marie Beverly and Richard Demond Beverly, Jr.; and siblings, Donna King and husband Morris, Terry Blanchard and wife Linda, Randy Blanchard, Linda Hanna, and Johnny St. Angelo and wife Betty; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Earl Deer, Sr.; three brothers, Remie Paul Blanchard, Jerry Wayne Blanchard, and Sammy St. Angelo; mother, Elizabeth Ann Norris Blanchard; father, Remie Blanchard; and maternal grandmother, Pearl Perry. Marie was an active member of Harding Street Baptist Church; and was an active member of the Soldier's Angels Program. Marie had battled stage 4 cancer since 2012. Oh My Sister how I am gonna miss you!
