On Christmas Eve 2016, at the age of 93, Iverson Gandy, Sr. passed away at home. Gandy was born in Eutaw, AL and lived in Tuscaloosa, AL before moving to Baton Rouge, LA in 1967. He was an Army Veteran and retired from Exxon Mobile Company as a Process Operator. Iverson is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty Bell Gandy; five children: Ivory Bellamy (Reginald) of Jonesboro, GA, Iverson Jr. (Susan) of Tuskegee, AL, Anthony (Keener) of Baton Rouge, LA, Bettye Jolla (Willie Jr.) and Teddye (Juanda) of Montgomery, AL; 12 grandchildren: Kevin, Cinnamon, Cecily, Sherylete (Quincey), Iverson III, Christy, Kali (Keith), Kailia, Tiara (Marcus), Teddye (Mariah), Rachel, and Trinity; 5 great-grandchildren: Chloe, Kyle, Xavier, Ryane, and Keir; and sister: Palmira Jones of Birmingham, AL; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Jack and Palmira Gandy; one daughter, Shirley Gandy; and 2 brothers: Maxie and Clarence Gandy. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at Donaldson Chapel Baptist Church, 2501 Gracie Street Baton Rouge, LA 70802, on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 9 a.m. until Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park.
