Samuel J. Aucoin of Baton Rouge died May 12, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 66. Samuel grew up in Baton Rouge. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He attended McKinley Senior High School. The essence of his life was truly his family; he adored them and cherished the time he spent with them. Samuel J. Aucoin will be remembered for his upbeat and positive outlook on life. His focus was always on helping others. Samuel will be sadly missed by his family, but they are grateful for all the blessings he brought into their lives. The beloved husband of Geraldine (Grant) Aucoin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Devoted father of Maria Aucoin Boyd and her husband Ronald Boyd of Baton Rouge. Devoted brother to sister Mary Aucoin of Baton Rouge and brother Gregory Aucoin of Baton Rouge. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his father and mother and several brothers. He was released with honors from The Army, received National Defense Service Medal Marksman Rifle, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, and Republic of Vietnam campaign medal and combat infantryman badge. Visitation will be Friday, May 17, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Desselle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at Port Hudson Cemetery.
