Royal Wadel Turner was called "home" on July 19, 2013. He was 76 years old and a native of Venango, Nebraska. Royal graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa. Several moves later brought Royal and his family to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he worked as a maintenance manager at Borden Chemical. After working overseas in the Middle East for 8 years, Royal came back and took ownership of Fun Time Foods for the past 17 years. He was an avid bridge player, fisherman, cat lover and had a great love of LSU basketball. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joie Lee Turner; two sons, Jeffrey Royal and Lee Charles Turner; daughter-in-law, Beth Turner; grandchildren, Kelly and Brad Turner; step-mother, Virginia Turner of Cheyenne, WY; various cousins and aunts in Nebraska. LORD, please welcome him into one of your "many rooms" and let him know how much we will love and miss him. Royal will be cremated at the Church Funeral Services and Crematory in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A memorial service will be held at a later date. If you would like to be contacted for the service, please e-mail the family at [email protected] or call and leave a message at (225) 751-5575.

Mrs. Joie, Jeff and Lee - our family was saddened to hear the passing of Mr. Royal. He was a part of the Lard family and will be truly missed. He worked at Borden Chemical with my father (Ira) and joined us many Saturday mornings for breakfast. After my father passed away, he spent many Sundays playing bridge with my mom (Helen). Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Helen Lard, Chris Tate and Sarah Lard LeCocq
