Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Harris "Boog" Zeringue, 79, who died on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at his residence in Lafayette. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Lectors will be Mona B. Zeringue and Luna Babineaux. Karen Broussard, organist and Ali Zeringue, soloist, will sing for the services. Left to cherish his memories include his beloved wife of 56 years, Jane D. Zeringue; his daughter, Tressie Zeringue Guillory and her husband, Craig; his son, Michael H. Zeringue and his wife, Mona; one sister, Stella Carline; one brother, Nathan Zeringue; seven grandchildren, D.J. Landry, Justin Zeringue, Ali Zeringue, Brock Zeringue, Logan Guillory, Colby Guillory, and Tray Guillory; five great grandchildren, Charlie Landry, Nate Guillory, Grace Guillory, Makayla Guillory, and Brennon Guillory; his sisters and brothers-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Freddy and Odette Lajaunie Zeringue; one brother, Raymond Zeringue; and one grandson, Eric Guillory. A native of Henderson, Harris "Boog" Zeringue worked for Marine Electric Company for 20 years and Ralph's Electronics for 37 years. He loved to cook, which he often did for the Carmelite Monastery. "Boog" loved to fish but most of all, loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed the simple things in life. "Boog" was a man of few words and let his actions speak for him. Harris "Boog" Zeringue was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him and will be dearly missed. Pallbearers will be D.J. Landry, Logan Guillory, Justin Zeringue, Brock Zeringue, Colby Guillory, and Britt Sonnier. Honorary Pallbearer will be Tray Guillory. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be recited on Friday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in "Boog's" name to the Carmelite Monastery at 1250 Breaux Bridge Rd, Lafayette, LA 70501 or Heart of Hospice at 201 W Vermilion St, Lafayette, LA 70501. The family would like to thank the entire oncology staff at Dr. Michael Cain's office, the entire ninth floor staff at Lafayette General, and Heart of Hospice for giving such great care during such a difficult time.
