Mac Vea Hubbs Jr., a native of Clinton, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 at the age of 84. He retired from BASF Wynotte after 32 years of service, and he was a Poll Commissioner for several years in East Baton Rouge Parish. Mac is a veteran of the United States Air Force, served in the Korean War, and was an active member and past post commander of the American Legion Nicholson Post 38. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, and he will be missed dearly by all that knew him. Mac was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife of 63 years, Christine Douglas Hubbs; two daughters, Rhonda Vea Hubbs and Carla Jean Hubbs Meliet and husband Nathan; three grandsons, Jason N. Meliet, Jared D. Meliet and Kurt M. Meliet; and two great-granddaughters, Gracie Hollyn Meliet and Alexis Nicole Meliet. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Phyllis Kay Hubbs; parents, McVea Hubbs Sr. and Willie Baker Paine Hubbs; sisters, Josie Hubbs Jackson and Marguerite Hubbs Ducote Clayton. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 5pm until 8pm and resume on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 9am until funeral service at 10am. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Cecil Ducote, Bill Mac Ducote, Ernest Rogers, Jason Meliet, Jared Meliet and Kurt Meliet.
