Richard O. Rush, Sr. passed away Friday, February 8 at his home in Zachary, Louisiana at the age of 99. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Taylor Rush, his sons Charles Coleman Rush, Jr. and Richard O. Rush, Jr., and his daughter Elizabeth Ann Hagan. He is survived by his wife Betty Holmes Rush, son Richard Shane Rush, daughter-in-law Asheli Harris Rush, daughter Carolyn Rush Bunch and son-in-law Wayne P. Bunch. Grandchildren Madison Shayne Rush, Debbie Rush Walker, Charles Coleman Rush III, Wayne P. Bunch Jr., Tucker Dawson Bunch, Melissa Hill Bankhead, Marcy Elizabeth Bunch Gray, Taylor Douglas Bunch and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Rush graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria, LA, Louisiana College in Pineville, LA., and L.S.U. Law School in Baton Rouge, LA where he was valedictorian of his class, and served as editor in chief of The LSU Law Review. After graduating, he taught law at L.S.U. and later practiced law with the firm of Brumfield, Hebert and Rush. He served in the Navy as a P.T. Boat Captain in World War II. Mr. Rush was an outstanding businessman with interests in numerous businesses. He was the founder of American Public Life in Jackson, Mississippi, and National American Life in Baton Rouge, LA.; founder and Chairman of the Board of Guaranty Bank in Zachary, LA; President and CEO of Rush Industries; and co-owner of Chanel 33 television station in Baton Rouge and Chanel 16 in Jackson, Mississippi. He was one of the original owners of the New Orleans Saints Football Team, a member of the Baton Rouge Country Club, a 33 Degree Mason, and developer of numerous subdivisions. He was politically active in the community, running for Lt. Governor. He was a missionary to Acuna, Mexico for 12 years, a member of Christ Fellowship Church in Zachary, LA, serving as pastor for 2 years. He was buried in Port Hudson Military National Cemetery in Zachary, Louisiana in a private ceremony. The family would like to thank Hospice for their exceptional care, along with Jim and Debbie Kent, Pastor and Mrs. Hurley for their constant love and support and Ramon Jarrell devoted friend and business partner.

Carolyn, That picture of your dad is exactly how I remember him looking. He was a good man. We had good times at your house on Ormandy. I was so young but I fondly remember going to your house, and how loving and generous your parents were!
