A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers for Lawrence Drew Soileau, 81, who passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 10:50 p.m. at Cornerstone Village South in Lafayette, LA. Reverend Bryce Sibley, Pastor of Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Calvary Mausoleum. Larry, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Maurice Soileau and the former Birdie Mae Potier. L.D. graduated from St. Martinville High School, received his Bachelors Degree from S.L.I., and then went on to receive his Masters Degree in Wildlife Management at LSU. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot during the Korean War. Larry spent his career as a Wildlife Biologist for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries for thirty-six years, retiring in 1996. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Landry Soileau; his daughters, Simone Soileau Shammai and her husband H. Michael, Nanette Soileau Heggie and her husband Joseph B.; his three grandchildren, Andrew and Alexander Shammai, and Baxter Heggie; his sister, Patricia S. Fournet, and his brother, David M. Soileau and his wife Elaine. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dorothy S. Etier. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Dr., on Friday June 14, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Saturday June, 15, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Andrew Shammai, Alexander Shammai, Baxter Heggie, Drue Fournet, Brian Etier and David M. Soileau, II.
