Clovis "Big Shot" Jarrell, a native of Gurley and resident of Ethel, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013 at his residence. He was 80, US Army Veteran and a Retired Rereeler Operator of Crown Vantage Corporation with 30 years of service. Visiting at Richardson Funeral Home, Clinton, on Friday, Nov. 8 from 5-7 p.m. Religious service at New Zion Baptist Church, Gurley on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. Sterling Wright. Interment in church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Underwood Jarrell; daughter, Gwendolyn M. Jarrell; son, Derrick W. Jarrell; sister, Mary F. Hendrix, San Antonio, Tx; brothers, Steve Jarrell of Kenner, La, Charlie Jarrell of Baton Rouge, La and Jesse (Mary) Jarrell of Fayetteville, NC; and numerous grandchildren including one in which he reared, Bria M. Jarrell of Atlanta, Ga. He was preceded in death by parents, Ina Green and Steve Jarrell; son, Jerome White; step-daughter, Pamelyn Y. Underwood; three sisters, Lillie Brooks, Lee Audrey George, and Catherine Cannon; and three brothers, Santee Jarrell, Levi Jarrell and Walter Jarrell, Sr. He was a 1952 graduate of East Feliciana Industrial Training School.
