Larry Schatz Obituary

Larry Eugene Schatz was born on July 23, 1950, in Stuttgart, Ark. A resident of Baton Rouge, he died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He graduated from John Curtis Christian Academy, followed with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Tulane University, and later earned a Master's Degree from LSU in Baton Rouge. He was a member of MENSA and the Louisiana Chess Federation. He is survived by his loving wife, Bobbie Vignes Schatz; a sister, Sally Brown; two brothers, Stan Taylor and wife Susie, and Bill Taylor and wife Kitten; in-laws, Dr. Julie Vignes Bridges and husband Samuel, Edwin Victor Vignes, Jr., and Dr. Edwin Victor Vignes Sr. and wife Barbara. He is also survived by Uncle Wes and Aunt Betty Whittington of Arkansas; cousins, nieces, nephews, special friends and other family. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Harriet Mayfield Taylor Schatz and Theodore Albert Schatz. Larry began his career at the Louisiana Department of Revenue and Taxation after college and retired from there after many years of faithful service. Upon retiring he spent time volunteering at the local library, cooking (a new found experience for him), reading and computer work. Larry enjoyed life with Bobbie, especially singing with the choir at their church, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. "You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand." Psalm 16:11. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on May 4, 2013 at 10 AM for family and friends.

Lifting up you and your family in prayer during this time. Years ago, I was acquainted with Larry from working at the LA Department of Revenue and Taxation. He was definitely an asset to the agency...always willing to help others. Praising our Lord for the gift of his life. May Larry now enjoy his life with HIM!
Sincerely,

Lea Anne Schroeder
