Joining our other Heavenly angels, Aunt Velma earned her wings on April 24, 2013 at the age of 85. She was a native of Denham Springs and a resident of Baton Rouge. Aunt Velma was a former employee of Wendy's Restaurant for numerous years until her health started to decline. She is survived by three nieces, seven nephews and a brother-in-law in addition to a host of friends and family including her extended family, Kathy, Jay and Stephanie at Hampton Court Apartments where she resided for countless years. She is preceded in death by her husband, William L. Allen, and their two sons, James and Alan. Also preceding her in death are her two sisters, Georgia Hull and Thelma Deen, her two brothers, James and Gayden Street, and her parents, James and Narcissa Street. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Heartfelt gratitude goes out to the staff at The Carpenter House for their utmost compassionate care during her last days and also to the staff at Guest House Nursing Home where she spent the last two months of her life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice, 10615 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA 70809 in Aunt Velma's memory.
