Stanley A. Ponson, Jr., known by all as "Rock," went to meet our Lord on Friday, February 22, 2013. He was 73, born on March 14, 1937 in White Castle, and resided most of his life in Baker and Head of Island. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 9am until religious services in chapel at 11am. Entombment to follow in Hillcrest Mausoleum. Rock is loved and remembered by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ricky Ponson; and Andy and Donna Ponson; four sisters, Barbara, Audrey, Beverly, and Tracy; five grandchildren, Daryl, Robbie, Cody, Taylor, and Savannah; three step-grandchildren, Kelley Butler, and Erica and Adam Marler; eight great grandchildren; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Haney Ponson; mother and father, Ethel and Stanley Ponson, Sr.; stepmother, Elsie Haney Ponson; two brothers, Larry and Ronald Ponson; sister, Frankie Allen; and brother-in-law, Don Haney. Pallbearers are Daryl Ponson, Cody Ponson, Blackie Bell, David Bell, and Ronald LeJeune. Rock was a longtime carpenter and contractor, starting work at the early age of 13 under his father's guidance. He worked on many buildings in Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas. Rock never met a stranger, and his countless friends remember his fun loving ways that were unique to only the "Rock." He was a previous member of Fennwood Country Club, and enjoyed playing golf. "Rock" is what I always knew him as. When he came here to Gonzales Healthcare and I noticed who he was I knew we were in for a ride of a lifetime. He always had that beautiful smile and loved his music. I will miss and forever remember Mr. Rock !!!

Our prayers and thoughts are with the Ponson Family. I met Mr. Rock from his sister Barabra, who was close friends with my mother's Family (June Clement Guzzardo). He was quite a character, and a very fun person to be around, he had a knack for making the people around him happy!
