Everytime i saw "Rico" he was always smiling, always positive, always funny & most certainly always spoke of how much he loved his grandchildren. He was so happy to move to the river & officially become a "river rat". Our heartfelt condolences to his family. Tom & Lara Dove

All my prayers and best wishes to Richard's loved ones for God's healing and peace at this sorrowful time. I am a classmate of Richard's from Lafayette High Class of '65. When my wife and I spent time in conversation with Richard at a class reunion, it was apparent that Richard's smile, easy manner and positive outlook were still there, just as it was in our teen years. I respected Richard for that; for his devotion to his business and family; and for his service to our country. I know you all thank God for the gift of his presence for the years you had such a fine fellow in our lives.

We Lafayette people had no idea he was having medical problems. I know I speak for all of the Lafayette High class of 1965 when I tell you that our prayers are with all of Richard's family. He was loved by all who knew him and we will miss him terribly.

My heartfelt condolences to all of the Compton family. Richard was a former classmate and great friend in high school and we later connected in business in Baton Rouge. I spent some great time with Richard at the LHS reunion in 2010 in Lafayette and we relived our wild teenage times together in high school. I actually lived with his family in my last semester of high school as my family had moved on to Baton Rouge. I already miss him and share your grief.

Richard was a classmate at Lafayette High School in the early 1960's.
As his obituary states, he was a fun loving guy, who made life more enjoyable for all of us around him. I specifically remember telling him, at our last class reunion, that he could have been a great stand-up comedian, after he told a true story from 1960's that had us laughing.
My sincere condolences to all of you who were family and close friends of his in recent years. And I hope that it is some consolation to you to know that his many friends go back at least a half a century to his days in Lafayette - - - we shall all miss him. He brought joy to the world!
