Fred Acosta Obituary

Jody passed from this earth to his heavenly home on June 14, 2014 at the age of 42 due to a heart attack in Baton Rouge where he lived with the love of his life, his wife of 18 years, Anita Lemoine Acosta. Despite health challenges, Jody achieved much in his life. He attended St. Alphonsus School and Church, graduated from Redemptorist High School, earned a degree from Baton Rouge Technical College and was presently attending ITT in computer engineering. He was also employed by Albertson's. He was always driven to better himself, working and attending school. Jody had a passion for genealogy and was the family's historian, sharing his discoveries with friends and family. He will be missed greatly by all, especially his wife Anita; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Shannon Lemoine; grandchildren, James and Elizabeth. He is survived by his father, Fred Joseph Acosta, Sr. of Denham Springs; mother, Sandra Spedale Pullam and stepfather, Stan Pullam; sister, Francelle Theriot and husband Kirk Theriot and their children, Dr. Lindsey Dietrich and Katie Dietrich, Micah and Austen Theriot; sister, Gina Klein and nephew Jacob Polk; father-in-law, John Lemoine; and step siblings Patti Broussard and husband, Louis Broussard and their sons, Garret and Ryan Broussard; as well as step brothers, Glen and Ken Pullam; niece, Chelsea Pullam; godmother, Natalina Evans; aunts, uncles, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Honore and Clara Eskine Acosta; maternal grandparents, Sam and Frances Miranda Spedale; infant brother, Anthony Todd Acosta; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Soileau Lernoine; and step brother, David Pullam. Visitation will be from 5 pm to 9 pm at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, June 17. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Wednesday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Rd, Baton Rouge (Central), LA 70739. Farewell to you dear man who never met a stranger, was loved by many and sorely missed. May you rest peacefully forever. Visit the online guest book at www.rabenhorst.com.

Memories and Condolences
for Fred Acosta

Not sure what to say?

To the Acosta family,
May GOD fill you with his peace and comfort. I had the great privilege to be Jody's teacher at Redemptorist. His energy and spirit ignited the classroom. I will always remember a prayer service he led at RHS one day before school. In talking about "Worrying", Jody urged the group - "If you have time to worry, you have time to pray!" I get to repeat his words and share them with my students each year. GOD Bless!

To Jody's family, I offer my deepest condolences for your loss. I was Jody's counselor through La. Rehab Services. It was a pleasure to have worked with Jody. He was a kind and gentle soul who could be so goofy and always make me laugh. I wish you peace and healing through this terrible time of grief.

My condolences to the family. A loved one loss can grieve the heart, therefore treasure the special times spent with Jody-draw strength from the love of family and friends-and may God loving-kindness comfort you through this difficult time.-Psalm 119:50,76

I only knew Jody by phone conversation talking about our ancestry and about how he had created an in depth search of our ancestry all the way from Sutera,Sicily. I talked to him on the phone on friday night. It was a joy talking with him and I was looking forward to future conversations. My Condolences to your entire Family.

I knew Jody when he was at Redemptorist and I was the counselor there. He was always so very special to me. We had many long talks in which I was able to tell what a soulful and caring person he was and how sensitive he was to the feelings of others. I met him some years after he was married, and he seemed so happy to be in the role of husband and father. Jody was one of my very favorite students and I am so sorry to hear of his passing so young. Remembering his sweetness, I can only imagine your loss.

Jody's Family,
Jody was such a sweet person, and although we weren't related we shared an Aunt Sara (Spedale) Cascio. His love of genealogy helped me pass my final for my family studies class in college. He will be missed! Prayers for you during this sad time.

To all of Jody's family,
I had only known Jody for a short time, but he was a great guy. We spoke at length on the phone about our Sicilian ancestry. He was an invaluable resourc to my daughter, Brittany, in completing her last course at UMass. We finally met in person at Aunt Sara Cascio's funeral, (our great aunt in common). I am deeply saddened by his passing and I know you all will miss him terribly. However, I am sure he is now meeting all of our ancestors who have gone before us to the heavenly kingdom.
Sincerely,

To Jody's wife and children, my sincere love and prayers to you today. To Sandra, Fred, Francelle, Gina, Rita; my love and tears I share with you. I am so very sorry to hear this about Jody. I will always remember him, met him at 2 years old with all those curls, such a charmer he was and such a gentle spirit. As I am sure he never changed. This is certainly a difficult time for you all, he was the baby, everyone's baby. Life is so fleeing as we all know, the years have come and gone so fast. Hang on to what Francelle said about seeing Jody and spending eternity with him forever. Know that this very moment Heaven is welcoming him home grandmas and grandpa's are there to welcome him; but know that he will be looking down upon you all wanting you to know he is not far....not far away at all. For until you move where he has moved he lives within your heart... For we are one in Christ, ....God Bless you all and may he hold you tight reassuring you that all is well and it won't be long till eternity.

I was so surprised to hear this news because I talked to Jody about our ancestors the day before, on Friday. He really knew our ancestors and information technology. I was always very impressed that Jody continually improved his knowledge and skills. My deepest sympathy to Anita, Sandra, Stan, Fred, Francelle and Gina. I am so sad about this.
