Iry J Breaux grew his wings and entered the Gates of Heaven on Friday, June 27, 2014. He was 97 years young and died at his home with his family caregivers. On April 30, 2012, at 7:30pm, he prayed a sinner's prayer and accepted Jesus as his personal Savior. Iry J. was the oldest WWII Veteran in Ascension Parish. He served in the 36th Air Depot Army Air Corp as an Airplane Mechanic. In 2012 Sheriff Jeff Wiley issued a proclamation, key to the parish, plaque, hat, and deputy badge making him "Honorary Sheriff for the day". On July 22, 2012, it was declared "Iry J. Breaux Day" in Ascension Parish by Parish President Tommy Martinez. He was an avid LSU fan, duck hunter, fisherman, and loved spending time at his camp in Grand Isle. Iry J. was a man who lived by Matthew 5:39. He was a kind, generous man and loved unconditionally. He was born on June 22, 1917 to Leonce and Olive Babin Breaux. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Alice Cook Stephens Breaux, brothers Kelly, Vernon, Dewey, Claude, and sister Felma Young. He was survived by his step sons and their spouses Marvin and Pat Stephens, Glen and Judy Stephens, numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Those dearest to his heart were nieces and granddaughters and their spouses who were able to care for him for the last 2 ½ years; Mary Grace and Tommy Guitreau, Angie and Brian Minvielle, Peyton Guitreau, Tammie and John Thomassee, Amelia and Nolan Babin. Special Thanks to caregivers Anita May, great-grandson Tyler Poche, and attorney Larry Buquoi and staff. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 10am until services at Noon. Burial to follow in Hope Haven Cemetery, Prairieville. Pallbearers will be Tommy Guitreau, John Thomassee, Brian Minvielle, Troy Stephans, Claude Breaux Jr. and Keith Boudreaux. His favorite quote to his cargivers was "thank you baby and I will never forget you". In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. To offer condolences to the family please visit www.oursofh.com.

Missing you so terribly bad. Nothing is the same without you. Every time Moon meows in his very loud voice I think of you. He still talks by the door so I will let him in and he still sleeps in your favorite spot. I will never forget you and the mark you left on my life. I love you, Angelina

Hey Pawpaw, I know you enjoyed your birthday in heaven. We all missed celebrating this past weekend with you, but I know you had a grand celebration with God and all the angels. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think about you and Mawmaw. I miss the two of you so very much and I know we will all be together again and celebrating. This place is not the same since y'all left to go to heaven, but I am thankful that the both of you are in a much better place. I love y'all.

I look at pictures of you pawpaw and see a sweet kind man and wish there were more people on this earth like you. I am so very blessed that a special person like you was such a big part of my life. I can't imagine how someone could or would mistreat a man like you, who had a heart of gold. You made an imprint on my heart that will be there for ever and I am grateful for that. Luv you pawpaw and always will.

Hey Paw Paw. I'll miss those big hugs and sugars you always had waiting for us, the boat rides on Proud Mary and the smell of Jambalaya from the cook out room. You always found a way to include myself and Summer with cooking. Making onion rings was always my favorite. I love you and will always remember all of the great things you taught me. Dance away Angel. You are where you belong.
