Dear Grandad James,
My life long pen pal, my fellow world traveler, my grandfather, and my friend. A piece of my heart went with you when you left. I've spent so many years growing up there in Louisiana and knowing you will no longer be there is a hard reality. I remember you helping me plant my carrot garden in Canada when I was four. I remember helping you cut eggplant when I was about seven. I know I have my love of gardening from you. I remember you tutoring me in French when I was nine. There are lots of memories as you were such a staple in my life. You will be missed dearly. You will be thought of everyday. I'm happy that you are with Grandmother Isabelle though, as well as Grandpa and Grandma. You are all together again as it should be, watching over us and waiting for the day when we will all be together again swinging on the country seat swings, enjoying the breezes that come off the Mississippi River, and listening to the birds all around. There was nothing more peaceful than sitting in the swings with you, just listening to the sounds of the Louisiana earth, and river, and cane fields. I will always think of you when I see the cane fields. I miss you. I wish I could write to you in Heaven. I love you. Save a place for me on the swing next to you and Grandmother Isabelle. I bet the sounds of the birds are even more pretty and more peaceful in Heaven.
