Viola Allen Obituary

Allen, Viola Himel "Vi" "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from which cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." Psalm 12:1-2. Viola Himel Allen was born June 24, 1913, and went to join her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 30, 2005, at 7:40 p.m. She was a homemaker, a resident of Donaldsonville and a native of Napoleonville. She was 92 years old. Funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Donaldsonville, conducted by the Rev. Don Wells, pastor. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday, July 2, from 8 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. Entombment will be at Ascension of our Lord Catholic Garden Mausoleum in Donaldsonville. Her priority in life was serving the Lord. She served as Vacation Bible school teacher, children's Sunday school teacher, adult Sunday school teacher, and church clerk for many years. She loved her family dearly and will be lovingly remembered by all. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Gordon "Bo" Loland; three sons and daughters-in-law, Guy and Gladys Allen, Belle Chasse, Bill and Nancy Allen, Donaldsonville, and Danny and Jackie Allen of Arizona; and a sister, Lucille Hernández, Raceland. Viola was also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, blessed with 59 in all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Keith Allen; parents, Effie and Amadeo Himel; a sister, Emily Sansoni; four brothers, Harry, Henry, Oscar and Everette Himel; two great-grandsons, Travis Dupre and Jarred Dale; and a granddaughter, Wendy Marie Loland. Pallbearers will be Guy, Bill, Danny, Todd, and Mark Allen, Darrin Loland and Oscar Himel. The family wishes to extend their thanks to all who cared for her including Donaldsonville Nursing Home and staff, Dr. Glenn Schexnayder and Prevost Hospital and staff. Also thanks to the many family members and friends who visited during her final days. Ourso Funeral Home of Donaldsonville is in charge of arrangements. "My body was a rented house whose tenant was my soul. The lease was for a few brief years in time's unending scroll. Today my Landlord did arrive and tarried on His way, to post this notice on my door, "vacate this house today."
