A retired employee of the Citizens Bank and Trust insurance department, she passed away at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013. She was 91, a resident and native of Plaquemine. Visiting at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine, on Wednesday, May 1, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by Father Cleo Milano. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. Survived by her daughter, Rosslyn Stone; two sisters, Delores Richard and husband Martin, and Ann Godi and husband Jewel; a granddaughter, Ashlyn Stockstill; nieces, Sandra T. Sotile and husband Martin, and Mardel Keubel and husband Ken; great-niece, Brittney Ford; honorary grandchildren, Ricky Chidester and Paula Larson; and great-granddogs, Daisey and Saban. Preceded in death by her husband, Ross J. Mire; parents, Claude and Eula Fourroux Matherne; sister, Dorthy M. Trosclair and husband "Pepper;" niece, Janie T. Distefano; and nephew, Marty Richard. Pallbearers will be Ricky Chidester, John James, Mac Teems,Vic Hebert, Petey Mire and Todd Foles. Honorary pallbearers are Martin Sotile, T-Joe Distefano, Scott Larson, Martin Richard and Ken Keubel. Grace was a very charismatic, fun loving person who was admired and respected by everyone in her community. She had a love for cooking, dancing, playing cards and going to the casino. Her appearance was impeccable which was displayed by her sense of style and fashion. She enjoyed being with her family and friends and especially had timeless love for Rosslyn and Ashlyn. Very special thanks to her devoted caregivers Dianne Starks, Vicki Anselmo and Danielle Ard, who were the light of her life during her illness. Additional thanks to the staff at Plaquemine Caring and Dianne's daily devotion there also, and Comfort Care Hospice especially her nurses Kelli Gourges and Trisha Billings Hebert.
