Doris Mae Brown, 81, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2013. Born on Sept. 30, 1931, she married Thurman L. Brown on July 29, 1950. They were married for 58 years. Dottie was the baby girl of her family, having three brothers and one sister predecease her. She is survived by her children, Louie Brown and wife Paulette, Susette Morgan and friend Scott Vizinat, Annette Black and husband Charles, and Leslie Brown and wife Kelly; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and many dear nieces and nephews. Momma loved her family and never wanted anyone to leave when they came to her house. She enjoyed her yard and flowers and her faithful dogs she has had through the years. She worked at the telephone company back when there were switchboards and party lines. Her love and talent for music and singing inspired her children and each one learned at least one instrument. Dottie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thurman L. Brown; mother, Grace Terrell; father, Hardy Terrell; and son-in-law, Larry Morgan. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East chapel, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Thursday, May 16th, from 6 pm until 8 pm and resumes on Friday, May 17th, from 9 am until religious services at 10 am led by Bro. Ron Lowery of Galilee Baptist Church. Toni Black will sing special music. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Visit the online guest book at www.rabenhorst.com.

Louie, Suzette, Annette, and Leslie, I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Dottie's passing. But I can only imagine the beautiful singing, big hugs and sweet welcomes coming from Our Lord, Mr. Thurman, Larry, and especially Mimi. She always made me feel so special when I was over visiting as a child. Even through all the family wars she treated me so sweet. I remember the last time I went by the house (right before her going to the nursing home) I was going to stop for a quick visit and ended up we talked, drank coffee, FOR THE WHOLE DAY. All she had were fond memories of her kids. When she was in the nursing home she didn't seem to really know me but I visited a good while. All the sudden she smiled and said I know you, you're my little Kayte from across the street. I will always cherish the memories and just want to thank her and the kids for allowing me to share in her life.

It's only been a few hours since Momma left for her heavenly home. Already I have so many regrets. I wish I had sat and talked just a little longer and walked in her yard with her one more time while she pointed out every plant and its origin! I wish I could play her favorite songs one more time while she sings. What seems like an ordinary, fast-paced day can pass by you in the blink of an eye. Hug the people in your life and tell them you love them!
