Age 53, native of Mains, Germany and resident of Albany, Michael passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013 at North Oaks Medical Center. He was a carpenter by trade and a United States Air Force Veteran. He was a member of New Beulah Baptist Church. Michael leaves behind his wife, Patricia Edwards; mother, Elfriede Edwards; daughter, Jennifer Strickland and husband James; son, James Michael Edwards and wife Tonya; step-daughter, Paige Cowart; step-son, Derek Crayton; six grandchildren, James Michael Edwards II, Ja'Lynn Annagail Edwards, DeMarkell Edwards, Samantha Hare, Landon Michael Strickland and Christopher Ashley Day; three step-grandchildren, Brandon Davis, Olivia Crayton and Emma Crayton. Preceding Michael in death were his father Robert David Edwards; paternal grandmother, Gladys Edwards; maternal grandparents, Louise and Frederick Nauroschat. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, of Hammond on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The services will be officiated by Pastor L.C. Lord. Interment will follow in Hungarian Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Albany. Condolences and other information are available online at www.thompsoncares.com.
