A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jules U. Olivier at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2014, in the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell, La. Reverend Austin Leger will Celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will be held in the St. Bridget Church Cemetery. Mr. Olivier, age 86, a resident of Lawtell, La., died on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, La. Jules served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during WWII. He was a color bearer for the American Legion Post 45 and was a Lawtell Volunteer Fireman. He was a member of the Cattleman's Association and the Les Amis Acadian French Club. He also was a parishioner and a sacristan for St. Bridget Catholic Church. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. Survivors are his nephew, Kenneth C. Lafleur, M.D. and wife, Patricia McNamara Lafleur and his niece, Melba Lafleur Wyble and husband, Merrick Wyble, M.D. He is also survived by his great-nieces and nephews, Eric Wyble, M.D. of Pass Christian, Miss., Stephen Wyble, M.D. of Opelousas, La., Gretchen Wyble of New Orleans, La.; Christine Wyble Cornish and husband, Robert, of Jersey City, NY; Jeff Wyble and wife, Maurine McAvoy, M.D. of Manhattan, NY; James Matthew Lafleur and wife, Monique, of Madison, Miss.; Suzanne Lafleur Klok and husband, Rhett, of Charleston, SC; Caroline Lafleur Rodgers and husband, Logan, of San Diego, CA and his great-great nieces and nephews, Christopher Wyble, Allison Wyble, Isabella Cornish, Alexander Cornish, Nicolas Lafleur, Gabriel Klok, Ted Klok, Rosella Irene Rodgers and the Joubert Cousins Club of Lawtell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses and Cora Joubert Olivier and his sister, Irene Olivier Lafleur. Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, April 6, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Family and friends are invited to sign and view the online guestbook at www.lafondardoin.com. My childhood memories are filled with great times and love because of J.U. He will always be considered my grandfather in my heart. I have so many great stories to share with my boys. I will miss him dearly. I know he is with Mom Mom now.
