Eddie Joseph Henry, Jr, 89, died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 09:35 AM. He was a native of Bourg, LA and resident of Houma, LA and most recently Denham Springs, LA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 23, 2014 from 9:00 AM until Service time at Chauvin Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday April 23, 2014 at Chauvin Funeral Home. Interment: St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. He is survived by his son, Eddie Joseph Henry III and wife Linda Miller Henry, Algiers, LA., daughter, Susan Henry Hebert and husband Anthony James Hebert, Denham Springs, LA, grandchildren, Dominick Vincent Henry, Kathleen Curren Henry Cross, Robert Patrick Henry, Aimee Michelle Hebert. He was preceded in death by his wife, Merian Ann Fontana Henry, parents, Eddie Joseph Henry, Sr and Hazel Rogers Henry, brother, Leroy Paul Henry, sisters, Louella Marie Henry, Jeanne Ursella Henry, Iona Ann Henry and Helen Henry Chiasson. Eddie was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. He was 89 years young; he lived through the depression; served in the U.S Army as a medic in a field hospital in Burma during WWII; worked as a pumper at Bay St. Elaine, for Texaco for 34 years-retired and pursued a love for genealogy and gardening. He was a member of the Terrebonne Genealogy Society. He could trace his Cajun family roots to 1785 and the boats they came over on. When he met you, after learning a little bit about your family, he could tell you who you were related to and how far back he could trace your family. He married Merian Fontana Henry, a teacher, and raised two educated children, a lawyer who married a lawyer, and a teacher who married a teacher. His four grandchildren were his greatest blessing. He served God, he served his country and he served his family. His one wish was that God would let him live long enough to provide for his children and watch them grow up. Well Dad, I think you got your wish! You will be forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to the United Veterans League of Houma (350 S. Van Ave. Houma, LA 70363) or the Regional Military Museum (1154 Barrow St., Houma, LA 70360), two organizations that were very dear to his heart. We met mr.henry when he was at harvest manor. Loved talking to him. He was a world of knowledge. My mother was born and raised at cheniere au Tigre ,la. And he was all into the history of the island. We loaned him a book written by one of the former residence of cheniere au Tigre .
We missed him so much when he left to go to assisted living.
Lots of fond memories .

Ed I met you Saturday not long after your Dad passed away at Harvest Manor. It was meant me to run into you to ask how you liked the nursing home for your parents. I decided for my mom to be moved there from Houma. I know it will be the right place for her. Prayers to your family at this hard time.
