Glyn M. Ward, Sr. born December 22, 1924 in Spearsville, a resident of Baton Rouge since 1941, passed away from complications of dementia Friday, November, 16, 2012 at the age of 87. He graduated valedictorian from Spearsville High School and received a scholarship to Louisiana Tech University. Glyn served in the U.S. Navy in World War II at the submarine base in Pearl Harbor and was retired from Wolf's Sunbeam Bakery with 25 years of service. During his employment with Wolf's Bakers, he was elected Comptroller and President and Chairman of the Board of Directors. Glyn was a charter member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and East Gate Lodge #452 F & AM. His is survived by his daughter, Diane Ward Gardner, three grandchildren, Glyn D. Hays and wife Lindsay Theriot Hays, Anvers N. Hays, and Katherine M. Gardner and three great-grandchildren, Isabella Julia Hays, Braedan Dodson Hays and Bryson William Hays. Preceded in death by his wife of over 54 years, Julia Ann Brueck Ward, a son, Glyn M. "Cotton" Ward, Jr., parents Frank Lester and Clara McAdams Ward and three brothers, Welborn, Hayward and Ted Ward. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care given Mr. Ward by Gina and James with Audubon Home Health. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Institute for Dementia Research and Prevention at Pennington Biomedical Research Foundation, 6400 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70808. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday November 19, 2012 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. then again on Tuesday November 20, 2012 from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Glyn and James Hays, Colin and Gene Dickerson, Ted Ward and Lenny Moss.

Your dad was our bookkeeper for many many years and a very good friend. All of our children and grandchildren were close to him. He was a true gentleman. His kindness will be missed by many.
