David Mulkey Obituary

David Wesley Mulkey, Sr., age 92, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at his home in Central, LA. He served and defended his country in the US Army and Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He work for many years as an iron worker and was a very proud member of the Iron Workers Local #623. He was also know throughout his community of Central for delivering his homegrown satsumas and tomatoes to many friends. Visitation will be at Seale Funeral Home, Central, on Sunday, Dec. 9, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, Dec. 10 from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Vicker's Cemetery, Walker, LA. Survived by his daughter, Patricia Mulkey; sons, James and George Mulkey; brother, Louis Mulkey; and best friend and neighbor of over 40 years, Johnny Stanford; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Shirey Mulkey; children, David Mulkey, Jr., Roy Mulkey, Elmira Hart and Laura Farris; and his parents. Papa i have all way thought of you as part of my family even when Roy died you were there for his daughter Dana. my parents love you dearly. When they passed you were there for us and Dana. You will missed dearly.You would drive to New Augusta MS and bring fresh vegetable and fruits to my parents and us .Thank you for allowing me to be part of your family and daughter-in law.

I met Mulkey back in 1957 when we were at Kaiser working for Nichols Construction. He always knew where the best ironworker jobs were. He had a saying that we all loved, " I have quit better jobs than this one." God Bless him. And our sincerest sympathies to his family.
