Elizabeth C. Kuyt passed away on February 19, 2013. She was born in Lansing, Michigan and was a longtime resident of New Orleans. Elizabeth is survived by her husband Johanes "John" Kuyt of 37 years; sister Suzanne Briggs; sister-in-law Anna K. Benanti (Philip); nieces Lisa Caputo (Robert) and Jan Benanti (Dennis Carriere); nephews Bruce Edward Horn, Jr. (Donald Roth) and Scott Horn as well as two great-nieces and two great-great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Ethel Winifred Carter and Richard Harold Carter; brother-in-law Peter C. Kuyt, Jr.; mother-in-law Wylora H. Kuyt and father-in-law Peter C. Kuyt, Sr.; brother-in-law Peter C. Kuyt, Jr. (Thais) and beloved canine companions Sporty 1 and Sporty 2. Elizabeth retired as Assistant Vice President from Whitney Bank, where she met her husband. She loved New Orleans festivals and was an official Parrothead. Elizabeth was an avid sports fan, who loved the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, New Orleans Saints, LSU, Michigan Spartans and Tulane. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to her caregivers Joel Butler, Patricia Hitchens and Emma Turner. Many thanks to St. Joseph Hospice and Dr. Renee Daigle for their love and care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, www.stjosephhospicefoundation.org, LASPCA, www.la-spca.org or the Humane Society, www.humanesociety.org. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service in the Chapel of LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until service time. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery.
