Age 68 and a resident of Natalbany, Donald passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at his residence. He was a member of Natalbany Baptist Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whom will be missed dearly. Donald retired as a safety coordinator with various petroleum companies and was a volunteer fireman with the Natalbany Fire Department for almost 30 years. Donald leaves behind his wife, Harvis Ann Starkey; two children, Donna Starkey Donegan and husband Michael, Donald "Donnie" Starkey, Jr. and wife Lisa, along with his grandchildren, Brittany Henderson, Trevor Starkey, Erik Starkey, Ryan Donegan and Joseph "Joey" Donegan. He is also survived by his sisters, Delores S. Robertson, Louise S. Alfonso and Florence S. Gatlin; brothers, Wayne D. Starkey and Cary G. Starkey, along with numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Prissy; grand dogs, Reese and Lucy. Preceding Donald in death were his parents, William "Bill" and Irmalee Starkey; siblings, Roy G. "Buck" Starkey, Hilda S. Gambino, William L. Starkey, Harold G. Starkey and Gary H. Starkey. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Natalbany Baptist Church on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until the religious service at 3:00 p.m. Dr. Rodney Taylor will officiate the services and interment will follow in Gatlin Cemetery. The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff of St. Tammany Hospice and Ochsner Oncology staff of Covington.
