Janet Murff Obituary

A native and resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 8:20 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at her residence. She was 87 and worked as a Cosmetologist. Visiting at New Sunlight Baptist Church on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev. Dale Flowers. Interment in Roselawn Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Lee Murff of Memphis, Tenn.; goddaughters, Esparonza (Alphonse) Albert and Roslyn Williams, both of Baton Rouge; niece, Evette Davis of Herlong, Calif.; nephew, Thomas Washington of Sparks, Nev.; sister, Annie Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Flowers; sisters, Deborah Tatum; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Miller. She attended and completed high school in Clinton, La. and became a Cosmetologist. She was a member of Kappa Chapter of Theta Nu Sigma National Sorority, Progressive Beautician League, Cosmetician Club, Louisiana State Beautician Association, New Sunlight Pastor Aide Club. Miss Janet was the lifelong friend of our beloved Aunt, Mary L. Williams. She and Miss Janet traveled together, attended church services and activities together and were confidantes.
