Earle Clifford Obituary

Earle R. Clifford Jr. "Trapper", 88, of South Paris, ME passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013 in Baton Rouge, LA. Earle was born on December 17, 1924 to Earle and Marion Cleaves Clifford. Earle became an Eagle Scout in his early years, and in 1942 he graduated from South Paris High School. He attended Bates College for one semester before he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943 where he served in the US and the Pacific during the Occupation of Japan until his discharge in 1946. His rank was a Technical Sergeant. Earle went on to attend the University of Maine in 1946 where he met his future wife and graduated in 1950 with a degree in Engineering Physics. He was employed in the paper industry in both technical and management positions before he retired in 1982. Earle is survived by his loving wife, Pauline Curtis Clifford whom he married on August 14, 1948 and would have celebrated his 65th wedding anniversary this year. He is also survived by his sons, Michael J. Clifford and his wife Sandy Murray of Atlanta, GA, William C. Clifford and his wife Catherine D. Clifford of Walker, LA; granddaughter, Crystal C. Frith; grandson, Christopher S. Clifford; and great-grandson, Remy T. Frith. Preceded in death by his son, Robert A. Clifford; brother, Thomas L. Clifford; and sister, Helen Millay. Interment will take place at Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary, LA on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 10:30 am. Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
