Cyril "Paul" Bayhi passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at his home in Addis. A native of Port Allen, he was born on November 17, 1927 and was raised on Poplar Grove Plantation. A 1945 graduate of Port Allen High School, he attended LSU briefly before enlisting with the United States Navy, proudly serving during World War II. Upon completing his tour of duty, he returned to Baton Rouge where he made a career as a pipefitter, working in industrial plants throughout the United States, but primarily in the South. After over thirty years of service with Local 198 Plumbers and Steamfitters, he retired to his childhood roots of West Baton Rouge and spent his remaining years hunting, fishing, and meticulously caring for his yard, vegetable gardens, fruit and pecan trees. Paul is survived by his sons Paul Wayne and wife Judy of Baton Rouge and James and wife Sabrina of Port Allen; three grandchildren, who were "his eyes ", Branden Paul of Dallas, TX, Jonathan Erick of Houston, TX, and "his angel" Katelyn Elyse of Baton Rouge; his brother, Alfred "Buck" and wife Margaret; his sister-in-law, Doris Bayhi of Metairie; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Augusta Bayhi; his brothers, Ray, Merlin, Walter, and Karl; his sisters, Ora, Mildred, and Gussie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be observed at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway on Saturday, July 5, 2014 from 9:00 am until time of service time. Funeral Service will be at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, 4045 North Street, Baton Rouge. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kevin Reed and Nurse Brooke not only for their dedicated medical support but also for their cherished friendship; Aaron and the wonderful staff at Daniel Pharmacy; Ricky Anderson and the Addis Police Force; devoted friends, Lester Poirrier and Fred Frey; his sitter LaKeisha, and all who have provided friendship to him over the years.
