He was an avid fisherman and a die-hard Saints fan, Bubba had a passion for cooking and had even been accepted into Louisiana Culinary Institute but decided to pursue his career as an instrumentation technician/ draftsman with Emerson Controls. He spent 33 wonderful years on this earth but God saw fit to call him home on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Our Lady of The Lake Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Caitlyn Marie "Tater Bug" Cannon, Madison Leigh "Mattie Lou" Cannon, and Gene Lavalle "B.G." Cannon, III; parents, Gene and Beverly Newman Cannon; sister, Candace Cannon "Candy" Alfarran and husband, Luai Alfarran and their children Gabrielle Marie "Gabbie" Samson and Sanad Luai "Doodie" Alfarran; and maternal grandfather, D.C.
