He is survived by his mother, Sharon McCrory Balser, father Bill O'Quin and stepmother Gail Robins O'Quin all in Baton Rouge. He leaves a sister, Shannon O'Quin Wingo and husband Clay, his step-brother Jason A. McEachern and wife Kerry all from Dallas-Fort Worth, step-sister Madeleine Conger and husband Bill as well as two step-brothers, Ashton Constantine and Rob Constantine, and five wonderful nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind Bogie, his beloved dog, friend and faithful companion of 14 years. The family will hold a private ceremony and requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made the Greater Baton Rouge Volunteers of America, 3949 North Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA. 70806. David will be interred later in the Osyka Cemetery in Mississippi next to his beloved "Granny", the late Julia Williams O'Quin of Baton Rouge.

Not sure what to say?

Terribly saddened to hear about David. I was trying to get back in touch when I find out he had just died. I was friends with David in 4-6 grade. my twin brother and I were on the Invaders soccer team. (So glad to see Al Garcia here.) Spent a lot of time at David's house during that time. I still remember Bill's fire truck, Shannon's rock band shirts and the blessing of getting to visit with Granny. David was really a standout child, I'll never forget the time when White Lake's spelling bee came down to he and I. At some point (I can't remember exactly) I wound up getting the last word right and winning. David jumped up with a huge smile and grabbed my hand to shake it. He didn't think of me beating him, just was happy I won. He got his revenge at Nolan when I think he and Vega ran together against my brother and I for some sort of election... David won on the banner of "Win... with O'Quin." We didn't last very long at Nolan and wound up at Oakridge and eventually Lamar High. But am grateful to have known David in that formative time of life. God bless you Bill and Shannon.

I'm so sorry for your loss. David was a real bright spot. A warm, friendly and kind being. I always came away from a conversation with David feeling happier and at ease. The world is a little less sunny without him. Rest in peace old friend.

Dear Sharon, the loss of your son David is another tragic loss of a young one for our family. Please know that my heart is with you at this difficult time. I regret that I have not known your children as adults but I can see the the little blond darlings on a blanket in Iota when David was just a baby and Shannon was about 4. The memories keep us going. Dear David's family,
I met David in graduate school at UCLA after he had completed his first year. The projects he made were legendary amongst those that witnessed them. We all were in awe of his brilliance. Truly. I remember him as kind, sensitive person. It's very sad to hear the news of his passing and so tragic an ending to his suffering. May he rest in peace.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
