A resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 82, a native of Jacoby and attended schools in the Pointe Coupee Parish school system. Mr. Rattle retired as a supervisor from LSU after 23 years of service. He was an avid LSU fan. He was born December 17, 1930. After accepting Christ at an early age, he was baptized by the late Rev. He sang and traveled all over the United States with both groups, and they were heard each Sunday morning on WXOK for many years. In 1997, Mr. Rattle received a Certificate of Appreciation from the State of Louisiana, Office of the Metropolitan Council, City of Baton Rouge, for providing spiritual services while he was a member of the Southern Kings. Together, they had four children: two daugthers, Glenda Rattle Deloach (Eddie) of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Rhonda Ann Rattle, of Baton Rouge; and two sons, Ernest Rattle Jr. (Joyce), of Baton Rouge, and Alvin Rattle (Cassandra) of Port Allen.
