Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and resumes Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. until the time of services. Harvey was born Tuesday, January 13, 1931 in Youngsville. He was a longtime resident of Acadiana and a parishioner of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette. He was a proud veteran, having served as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard during the Korean War. Harvey attended Cathedral High School where he excelled academically as well as athletically. He ran track, played football, and boxed, earning the nickname "Hook". He was a fun-loving and funny gentleman - always ready with a joke or witticism. A mechanic most of his life, Harvey loved to use his hands and his creativity to solve problems. He was an avid gardener, hunter, fisherman and wood-worker. He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly, but departs to join his beloved, beautiful wife, Terry. We do not say goodbye, but instead "bonsoir". Mr. Labbé is survived by his two daughters, Karen Guidry (Michael) of Rayne, LA and Charlotte Labbé of Bronx, NY; two sons, Harvey "Bruce" Labbé (Cheryl) of Carencro, LA and Gene Labbé (Amy) of Tuscaloosa, AL; 10 grandchildren, Kacey J. Labbé (Stephanie), Adrienne Dautreuil (Derek), Christopher J. Guidry (Cassie), Michael "Mikey" C. Guidry, M. Kaitlin Plunkett (Danny), Hope Hebert (Joel), Julian "Jude" Guidry (Kristia), Mikki Lanclos, Robert and Karl Labbé; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous dear nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Toussaint Pellerin Labbé and the former Stella Fuselier. The family wishes to thank the Physicians and staff of Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor, Lafayette General Medical Center, and Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center for the compassionate care given to Harvey and his family.
