Ethelene and Bubbie,
What a great man to always remember. Always had a chuckle, always had a kiss on the cheek to share with kin. And what a wonderful storyteller. Reminiscing of him and Aunt Deenie have brought back memories, as kids, of laughter in the Dupuy home whenever they visited, especially the occasional card game nights. I will miss him at our Christmas parties. I am so proud to have seen both Brandon and Adam sitting side by side next to him this past Christmas listening attentively to one of his stories of long ago. I know they will treasure it. I thank him for taking me to the side and helping me understand the consequences which were coming towards the end of my own daddy's life. It made me stronger when the time did come.
God Bless Uncle Bert and all of you.

Ethlyn and Bert.......It was a great honor that you chose me to be a pallbearer for Uncle Bert, and I thank you with all of my heart...The overwhelming sadness of my flights to and from Louisiana were tempered by the gracious hospitality at the gathering afterwards at his house and the great story telling on the porch....Gosia was so sad that she couldn't attend because of the suddeness of it all and brutal conflicting schedules..........I weep as I write this, because there will never be another Bert in my life......Too bad that I never took his yearly advice to, "move on back over here, this is where you belong"......He was a tremendous inspiration to me, as well as a sort of role model, proving that one could indeed be that "southern gentleman" with a twinkle of the rogue in his eye, have tremendous faith, a gift of gab, overwhelming charity, undying love of family and friends and still let fly an occasional "dammit" or "SOB" with an innocent chuckle......I salute him, for in my book, and hopefully other's, this cat was the very epitome of a man's man......I consider myself unduly blessed that I was afforded the chance to be his nephew.........Hopefully, this terrible sadness will eventually subside and we can all celebrate the tremendous influence that he had on us........God bless you all and please, stay in touch...........love, Marc

Dear Family of Bert,
I worked with Bert at Ethyl Corp Investments Section in 1970 as a young secretary. I remember Bert as that "Southern Gentleman" you wrote of him. He was always smiling, happy, and had infectious laughter. I have fond memories of our happy work friendship. He enriched my life in that short time, as I'm sure he did you for a lifetime. May God bless you all during this sorrowful time.

Mr. Bert, Ms. Ethlyn, Allain and Scott Thomas,
Regretfully, I am unable to attend the services. However, I am praying that God would fill the void that is left behind by Mr. Bert. Scripture tells us in Psalm 116:15 " Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints" it also states in Psalm 34:18 " The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" I hope this grants you comfort.
Sincerely,
Mike Fleming
