Age 66, a native of Reserve and resident of Ponchatoula, Gwen went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Richard Murphy Hospice House in Hammond surrounded by her family. Gwen was a loving and wonderful mother, grandmother, wife and friend to all who knew her. She had a special love for her grandchildren and would stay outside all night gardening if you would let her. Gwen was a Nurses' Assistant at Belle Maison Nursing Home for many years and created many friendships and memories along the way. Gwen is survived by her husband of 22 years, Neal Tobey; sons, Arthur Bennett, Jr. and wife Julie and Dale Bennett and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Justin, Korey and Jessie Bennett; along with her sister Dorothy Ann "Dot" Young and husband Eric. Preceding Gwen in death are her parents, Gordon and Bessie Grady; and her brother, Glen George Grady and infant brother, Gordon. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home of Ponchatoula on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. The services will be officiated by Bro. Terry Lobell. Interment will follow in Sandhill Cemetery in Ponchatoula. Condolences and other information are available online at www.thompsoncares.com.
