James "Jim" Edward Spillers, Sr., 84, resident of Denham Springs. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 11:15am at his home. He was born April 18, 1930 in Monroe, LA to the late James Jefferson and Nadie Tederton Spillers. He was a self-employed retiree. He was a Korean War veteran in the Army 223rd Regiment 40th Division and saw action in the Korean War where he was wounded. He received several medals and honors, including the Bronze Star with "V" devise, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and the Japanese Occupation Medal. Member of the American Legion Post 178, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7017, President of St Vincent de Paul Society, Council of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for 15+ years. He loved to cook for family and friends and loved to have his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren around. He is survived by his wife Lois Blanchard Spillers of 60 years, 2 sons and daughter in laws, "Jimmy" James E Spillers, Jr and Trilby Gautreau Spillers of Prairieville, LA. Michael Joseph Spillers and Kim Chauvin Spillers of Denham Springs, LA. 5 grandchildren: Lindsey Renee Spillers, Bailey Lynn Spillers, Riley Wayne Spillers, Kaitlyn Anne Jackson, and Jared "Keith" Wall, Jr. Great-Grandchildren: Briyden Michael Spillers and Paizlie Renee Graham and several nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by his parents and one sister Vivian Spillers Allement and husband Wade Allement, two brothers Earl Ray Spillers and Clifford Duvall Spillers. Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs on Tuesday, April 29 from 9:00 am until time of the funeral mass at 1 p.m.; and burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The Pallbearers who will serve are Eric Blanchard, Bailey Spillers, Brent Blanchard, Keith Wall, Robert M. Blanchard, James Michael Allement, and Honorary Pallbearers Briyden Spillers and Riley Spillers Special thanks to his nephew and wife Eric and Sonya Blanchard for all their love and support. The team of Hospice in his Care of Baton Rouge and caregiver Joyce Azard.
