Heaven gained another Angel! Phyllis Rutland Lasserre, of Zachary (formerly from Central), went to her eternal home with Jesus on March 2, 2018. She was 82, born on November 17, 1935 in Petal, MS. She graduated from Istrouma High School in 1953. She began her banking career at Louisiana National Bank which became what is now Chase Bank retiring after 33 years of service. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Joseph Henry Lasserre, Jr., with whom she celebrated 33 wonderful years of marriage. She was the most loving Christian mother to Cindie Coghlan (Charlie Habig), Zachary; Steve (Dianne) Fletcher, Zachary: Sherry Fletcher, Baton Rouge; Her motherly love included our blended siblings: Joe (Susan) Lasserre, Ocean Springs; Patty (Bill) Dickerson, Ocean Springs; Annette (Barney) Beebe, Orange Beach; Paul Lasserre (Jeanie Cassano), Port Vincent. She was truly adored by 45 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She is survived by Blanche Hamilton, sister; Donna Rutland, sister-in-law; Peggy and Roy Tucker, sister & brother-in-law; and Winnie Ballinger, sister-in-law, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Beulah Rutland and her brothers, Roy and Charles Rutland. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge on Monday 3/5 from 5-8 pm and Tuesday 3/6 from 9:00 until the service begins at 11:00. Special thanks to those we consider our "Angels" from Oakwood Village Assisted Living and from Audubon Hospice Care.
