Candy Kyes Settoon left this earth in God's hands at 11:20 p.m., October 26, 2012, at the age of 36. Candy was born in Lafayette, La., on October 27, 1975, and spent most of her life in Pointe Coupee Parish before moving to Prairieville, La., in 2007. She loved the outdoors, being with her animals, riding four wheelers, skeet shooting, riding horses and discovered her love for art, pottery, and landscaping as she got older. Being a strong independent young lady, Candy wasn't afraid of a challenge. She enjoyed her involvement in 4-H activities during her school years and achieved great success and made so many new friends. She never met a stranger and attempted to give everyone a kind smile and a helping hand. Her natural beauty drew people to her. Candy graduated from False River Academy and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La., and was a paralegal for Mr. James Eric Johnson at the law firm of Porteous, Hainkel, and Johnson in Baton Rouge. Candy is survived by the light of her life, John Ross Settoon, and her newborn son, Dale Keith Fontenot, Jr. Also survived by husband, Dale Keith Fontenot, her mother and stepfather Vicki and Frederick Frey, her brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Jenny Settoon, niece and nephew, Anna and Jude Settoon, Uncle, Dr. James Storer, Aunt, Rita Storer Boucher, and several cousins. Preceded in death by her father, Eric Bryant Settoon, Jr. There will be a memorial service for Candy Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at 1 p.m., at St. Paul's Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Main Street, New Roads, La. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pointe Coupee Parish 4-H Foundation for the Candy Settoon Memorial Scholarship Fund, First Floor, 180 East Main Street, New Roads, La. 70760.

Dearest Candy, when the elevator stops (and dings) on our floor where you worked here with me, I still look for you to come bouncing off, walking and talking as you did, and me not understanding a word you were saying!!! hahaha I miss you so much!!! You were and still are precious to me and I am so very glad we got to be good friends. You were there for me when I needed someone to listen and I hope I did my best to do the same for you. I know you trusted me when you needed someone to talk to and consider that trust an honor and will cherish. To your Mom, Mr. Fred, Eric and Jenny, know that I think of you often. And to John Ross, Candy's "Little Man", who let me know that he was a "Big Man", I think of you too, especially when I see Disney's Toy Story and Cars and know how fond of them you were. Candy, I love you, Sweetie, and will remember always the kisses on my cheek and your saying "I Love You, Ms. Judy"!!!

Eric and family,
I worked with Candy for some years after hurricane Katrina. She was a kind, fun, spirit filled person who genuinely cared about the well being of her friends and fellow employees.
Candy's love for her family was evident by the way she often talked about her Mom, brother, and Uncle.
When John Ross came along we all got to know him too. I am happy I got to share a tiny bit of the sunshine Candy provided. We are praying for you guys and her children.
Joel.

Candy was one of the most kind and sweet girls I have ever known. I met her while at Northwestern University and we have remained friends all all these years. The last time I talked to her was in January of this year while passing through Baton Rouge and as always she was so funny and full of life, so positive. Candy enriched my life just knowing her, always smiling and exuding happiness. I will never forget her. I am so sad, and I hope her fun caring spirit will live on through her new child. Goodbye sweet girl!

My thoughts and prayers go out to Candy's family. She and I went to FRA together and played summer softball at P C Rec. Just a few years ago we saw each other at a Police Jury Convention where she was working a vendor booth. I recognized her right away with her warm and beautiful smile. I'm so glad we were able to see each other and do some catching up. May you rest in peace my friend.

There is no doubt in my mind that Candy was an angel here on earth and now an angel in heaven. she had a heart of gold!!! Heaven well be a happier place with her beautiful smile and the sound of her laughter. I have come to realize the sampling of love that God allowed Candy to bestow upon me, it was designed purposefully to draw my life closer to Christ. Understanding my faults and understanding love and compassion. Being able to receive love and in turn being able to give love. These were the gifts that Candy gave to me and many others without reservation. I will always feel so grateful to have had you, Candy, in my life although briefer than I had expected. You were one of the people in my life that would stand by me without question. I'm so grateful that I was able to tell you that I loved you every day that we saw each other over the past 19 years. My life has been enriched because of you,Candy, and what a blessing it was being your Best friend!

I am so heartbroken over this tragedy. I am just very thankful to have spent the last 2 1/2 years getting to know her. My family walked to see her, Dale, and John Ross almost everyday. She will be greatly missed by all 4 of us. I am so thankful she found happiness with Dale and she left a piece of her on Earth in Dale Keith. I am so Thankful for her in showing me who Christ is, and I know we will meet in Heaven again.

It's so ironic how things happen. Candy and I use to work for the same people but different companies. She and I became very close and I thought of her as a sister. She and I lost contact with one another but I always thought of her. Lately, Candy has been on my mind more than usual. Now I know why. Im soooo sad that I never made that call. She was a true original. Very smart, beautiful, caring person. I know she is in heaven making everyone laugh just as she did during her time on earth. I don't understand why these things happen but I guess I am not suppose to. I will miss my friend!!!!

Candy was like a sister to me, words cannot describe how beautiful she was inside and out: She was an amazing mother, and friend, loyal, compassionate, brilliant, talented, strong, spiritual, fun-loving. Candy was one of a kind, a rare & special gift from God who touched the hearts of so many. So many qualities about her, big and small! for example: she never hung up the phone without saying she loved me, I have endless memories with her, and I am blessed to have known her. She just had that way with people because her heart was so genuine. She took her life serious, and she took people serious. I love her, and I am gonna miss her so so much.
October 30, 2012
I feel Blessed to have been close friends with Candy. She was a beautiful person both inside and out. My heart goes out to her two precious boys, her Husband Dale, her mother-Mrs Vicki and her brother-Eric, and all who had the privilege to call her a friend. Candy was the "real deal" a true friend through good times and bad. It will be a long time before the sadness I feel leaves my heart. May God's Blessings and Grace help comfort her family in this time of sadness. Candy Settoon......You will be in my Heart and thoughts forever! Rest in Peace my sweet and dear Friend.
