Earl Ray Blalock ""Bub"" passed away peacefully in the loving embrace of family on Thursday, December 6, 2012. He was born June 10, 1930 to Murphy and Clara Blalock. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, from 2 p.m until 5 p.m. and will resume on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 10 a.m. until Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church. He is survived by one sister, Blanche Ruth Blalock Fontenot of Eunice, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Murphy John and Clara Couvillion Blalock; and a sister Shirley Blalock Penouilh. Earl retired from Dillard's where he worked in the men's suit department for many years after the closing of Godchaux's. He loved music and enjoyed singing in the choir. He was a very talented gymnast and was committed to a lifestyle of exercise and health. He will be remembered for his kind spirit, jovial personality and generous nature. Pallbearers are Gary Penouilh, Joshua Roy, Charles Jumonville and Johnny Allelo; honorary pallbearers are Sam Bordelon and Charlie Ciolino. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Earl Ray Blalock Scholarship in the LSU College of Human Sciences and Education; School of Kinesiology to assist talented gymnasts in achieving their dreams.

I remember ushering with Earl at Masses at St. Jean Vianney when I was in high school and college. Rest in peace my friend. God bless you !

I'm very sorry to hear of the passing of Earl. I dated Earl a few times many years ago when I was about 17 or 18. He was always the perfect gentleman and we remained friends until I moved from Baton Rouge.
