Buddy Clay Fairbanks, 77, of Denham Springs, LA, passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 at Ochsner of Baton Rouge. He served and defended our country in the United States Marine Corps as well as the Louisiana National Guard. He also served his community as the Chief Deputy with Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office and his state as a Louisiana State Trooper for many years before retiring. Visitation will be at Voice of Pentecost Church, 10770 Greenwell Springs Rd., Baton Rouge, on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday, Sept. 13, from 1 p.m. until service at 3 p.m., officiated by Rev. Robert Martin and Rev. Russell Cripps. He is survived by his children & spouses, Clay & Susan Fairbanks, Kimberly K. & Roy Mack Vines, Greg & Tonya Fairbanks, Charlene F. & Brad Ford, Amanda K. & Monty Brown; grandchildren, Lindsey and Brandon Stewart, Lana and Leslie Ann Fairbanks, Jessica K. and Hannah Beth Vines, Taylor and Alexis Fairbanks, Rebekah and Devin Ford, Madden and Marianna Brown; great-grandchildren, Braxton Clay Stewart and Kyley Stewart; brother, Russell Usher Fairbanks, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Pauline Fairbanks, Joyce Fairbanks; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Smith Fairbanks; parents, Russell Usher Fairbanks, Sr. and Sallie Irma Fairbanks; and brothers, Carey O. and John H. Fairbanks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louisiana State Troopers Association or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation.
