Dominic S. Bonfanti, native and resident of Baton Rouge, La., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 18, 2013 at the age of 82. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and faithful friend. He is survived by his wife, Celina Garrett Bonfanti; daughters, Virginia "Toodie" and husband Jack Blacklock, and Elizabeth and husband Andrew Curtis; son, Chris and wife Susan Bonfanti; brothers, Steve Bonfanti and wife Brenda, and Brent Bonfanti and wife Teetie; five grandchildren, Jeremy Blacklock, Stephanie & Christina Bonfanti, and Benjamin & Matthew Curtis; one great grandchild, Tristin Blacklock. He is also survived by his first wife, Dolores Bergeron Bonfanti. Visitation will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Ln. on Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 10 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow in Port Hudson La. National Cemetery with full military honors. Dominic was Owner/President of Bonfanti Marine and numerous other recreational boat dealerships. He was a graduate of Catholic High School, class of 1948 where he was a cheerleader. He was a 1957 graduate of LSU where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the 7th Marine regiment, 1st Marine Division, the first to land at Inchon, Korea at the Chosin Reservoir. He received a Korean Service Medal w/ two stars, United Nations Service Medal, and Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal. Dominic was the founding president of Marine Retailers Assoc, of America in 1972, and also served two terms as president of the Louisiana Marine Retailers Assn. He was an avid hunting and fishing sportsman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve Bonfanti and Virginia Dimattia Bonfanti Cline; his brother, Joseph Bonfanti; and sister-in-law, Dean Bonfanti. He loved to spend time with his family, enjoying good Italian food and a glass of wine. Semper Fidelis. We all love and miss you Dominic. We were shocked to hear of his passing today. We thought he would be here forever. He was a very nice man and we really enjoyed working on his house. He will be missed. Love Jim and Deb McCurry

My thoughts and prayers are with the Bonfanti family during this difficult time. I know we will all miss seeing Dominic for Christmas gumbo and wine, we always enjoyed having him with our family on Christmas day.
