Funeral services will be held Monday, April 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Crowley for Winifred Currie "Winnie" Barry, 91, who died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 7:20 a.m. at Sunrise Assisted Living in Baton Rouge, LA. Mrs. Barry graduated from college and in June of 1945 moved to Crowley as director of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church. She then went to work for the Acadia Parish Welfare Department in Child Protection Services, then became Director of the Acadia Parish Welfare Department and retired after 29 years of service. Rev. Jimmy Broussard, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Monday from 9:00 a.m. to service time at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Barry is survived by one son, James L. Barry of Baton Rouge; two special nieces, Belinda Harris and Paula Barry both of Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Bernard "Fuzzy" Barry, Jr.; her parents, Rev. James Virgil and Maude Rutherford Currie; two sisters, June Currie and Charlotte Adele Currie. The family wishes to thank Cardinal Hospice Services, Dr. David West of Baton Rouge Clinic, Sunrise Senior Living of Baton Rouge, and her caring team of sitters. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to, First Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 654, Crowley, LA 70526.
