Jacqueline "Jackie" Atkinson Grand passed away peacefully at 8:00pm on Friday, April 26, 2013 surrounded by family in her home at Lake Sherwood Village. She was a native of Baton Rouge, born August 17, 1926. Jackie graduated from University High School and received her Baccalaureate from Louisiana State University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was actively involved in her community, worked in the insurance and automotive industries, and was owner of Jackie's Doll House. However, first and foremost, Mrs. Grand was a devoted wife and mother placing God and her family above all things. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wedge Lieux Kyes, Sr. and Thomas Lacy Grand, Sr.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.C. "Jack" Atkinson, Sr.; and one brother E.C. "Jack" Atkinson, Jr. Jackie is survived by children Thomas Grand, Jr., David Grand and wife Judy, Doug Grand, Wedge Kyes and wife Ann, Kay Kyes, Barry Grand and wife Kathy, Beth Gray, Vickie Wagener, and Debbie Grand. She has 25 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Her children wish especially to extend their thanks to her "family" at Lake Sherwood Village and the ladies who served as her loving caregivers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Vincent DePaul, PO Box 127, Baton Rouge 70821, and Hospice of Baton Rouge, 9063 Siegen Lane, Ste. A. 70810. Visitation will take place on Tuesday April 30 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 5-8pm with the recitation of the Rosary at 6:30pm. Visitation at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 749 East Blvd., on Wednesday, May 1, from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Clifton Hill. Interment will occur immediately thereafter at Roselawn Cemetery, 4045 North St.

To Kay, Beth and the family,
Ms. Jackie was a joy and inspiration to everyone who knew her. She always had a smile and never a bad word for anyone. She was part of our family and a really good friend. I would like to extend my sympathy to all of Jacqueline's family. My Grandfather,Castro Carazo, Grandmother, Dad and Uncle and later myself, lived across the street from the Atkinson family on LSU Avenue. I have pictures of her and my uncle and myself. She was always very sweet and fun to be around. She was a great lady.
