Nov. 15, 1919-June 10, 2013. Sidney Boyd, 93, was born November 15, 1919 in New Roads, Louisiana, where he grew up, then eventually moved to Baton Rouge, Mobile, Ala., retired Sacramento, CA. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and worked for Federal Government at McClellan AFB for over 35 years. Sidney died Monday, June 10, 2013 at Mercy San Juan Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Sidney, affectionately known as "Uncle Sidney" will be deeply missed by his loving family, as well as his church family at St. Lawrence Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as other youth organizations within the church since moving to North Highlands in 1968, also included is his Eskaton Adult Day Health Center Carmichael Family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Bienville-Boyd, of 59 years, also of Baton Rouge, LA; parents, William Boyd, Sr., and Virginia LeBeau-Boyd; three brothers, John W. Boyd, William J. Boyd, Jr. and George C. Evans. Sidney is survived by three children: daughter, Philomena (James) Pruitt; sons William (Carol) Boyd, Sidney (Rose) Boyd, six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, George Boyd, Raphael (Stella) Boyd, James (Phyllis) Boyd; one sister, Virginia (Eugene) St. Amant, sisters-in-law, Velma Boyd, Carrie Evans, Margaret Ballance; brother-in-law, Frank Bienville; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family members. The family extends its special thanks to the staffs of Eskaton Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing in Fair Oaks, CA, as well as Mercy San Juan Hospital, and to the various medical personnel who attended his needs with compassion and professionalism. Visitation will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Ln., Fair Oaks, CA 95628 on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral Services Thursday, June 27 at 8:30 a.m., St. Lawrence Church, 4325 Don Julio Blvd., North Highlands, CA 95660. Reception will immediately follow in the St. Lawrence Church Hall adjacent to the church. Interment with military honors will be held on Monday, July 1 at 11 a.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620.
