I still think of Johnny so often; memories surrounding his love of cooking good Cajun food and caring for people. I especially recall fun times when I helped him with catering gigs at the Sanger...the Kinks, Bette Midler, Grateful Dead, Miles Davis...what special times. When Dr. John died recently I was flooded with memories of meeting him, along with the Neville Brothers, when they performed in Thibodaux. Johnny adored Dr. John and everyone adored Johnny Jambalaya.

I just heard this news a few minutes ago and am completely stunned and saddened. I am so very sorry. We had such great times together at Oak Alley and also catering at the Sanger Theatre. I'll never forget those days. His loss is felt by so many. He had such a kind and generous heart

Terry,so sorry to have missed the services. Was out of town with speaking engagement, a venue that rekindled a friendship that lasted many years with you and Johnny. Have kept both of you in my prayers since learning of his death. I believe he is in real bliss now with all the old Rock and Rollers in heaven. He will be missed by all the many people he had impacted with his generous nature and kindness.

I met Johnny's Mom and Dad in my restaurant in Monroe before I ever met Johnny...They were so proud of his accomplishments....She introduced herself to me and said that he was scheduled to go to Canada as part of a team to represent Louisiana food...I mentioned that I was part of that 6 member team also...She gave me a good review because when I met Johnny in Ottawa, we became fast friends immediately...I just was with him on that one trip, maybe 4 or 5 days...He was truly an ambassador for Louisiana, it's food, it' music and it's people...Proud to say he was my friend...His family should indeed be proud...Bon Voyage, mon ami!
