A native of Missouri and resident of Port Allen, he passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at the age of 79 after a battle with cancer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Cargill Flour Mill. Born near Domina, Mo., he was the eighth of ten children. He attended Lost Camp School and Church where he gave himself to the Lord. Visiting will be at Wilbert's Funeral Home in Port Allen on Wednesday, Jan. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. graveside service at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Brusly conducted by Pastor Steve Armstrong. Survived by his wife, Verda Neuenschwander Culbertson, whom he married June 14, 1969, in Canton, Kansas. He's also survived by a son, Kenneth Culbertson and wife Joyce, of Port Allen; daughters, Teresa Culbertson Holley and husband Donnie, of Addis, and Carol Culbertson Jumonville, of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, William Holley and wife Krystal, and Georgia Holley, both of Addis; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Drake and Keean Holley, all of Addis; sister, Mary Lou Mullaney, of Millsboro, Del.; brother, John Culbertson of Waynesville, Mo.; sister-in-law, Sandy Culbertson of Springfield, Mo.; godchild, Holly Mott; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and John Culbertson; brothers, James, Robert, and Andy Culbertson; sisters, Ruth Johnson, Ella Bryan, Marie Crouch, and Emma Havens; and son-in-law, Danny Jumonville. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Spillers, Eric Roberts, Buzzy Thib, Larry Robillard, Mike Huckaby, and Todd Hollier. His hobbies were playing with the kids, fishing, woodworking and picking pecans. In lieu of flowers, send memorial donations in his name to the charity of your choice.

I'm so sorry to hear about daddy George. He is greatly loved and missed. It's just going to be the same not seeing him driving around Port Allen to get coffee some where. All of yall are in my prayers. I love yall very much.

I will miss seeing Mr. Culbertson walking in the neighborhood. He always had a smile and a wave to give. God bless your family during this difficult time.
